Laura Ouellette

Hi there! Welcome to the world of a freelance writer, artist, illustrator and photographer (the photos are coming soon). My name is Laura Ouellette, and I live in North Bay, Ontario, Canada. I'm 11 years married (and counting), the mother of one (so far), and have been a member of Cool~Gallery here at Pipetap since Donna Neuman graciously extended the invitation in late summer of 2001.

When I'm not busy chasing my active 4 -year-old, or performing wifely duties (you can quit smirking now - we all know how exciting housework is), I like to sing, sketch and paint, play music (guitar and clarinette), cross-stitch and kick butt (in kick-boxing/karate). I currently shoot people for a living - as a studio photographer - and have been a reporter for several Ontario newspapers and publications within recent years.

"As of March 2003, I began a one-year contract as a writer/editor/graphic artist for Communitas Canada (formerly The Canadian Center for Social Justice), and Young People's Press, a youth news service agency for young people. I have also been doing artwork for Bay Consulting in North Bay, Ontario (the first of which you'll see here)."

Most of what you'll see of my work here is from my days as a graphic artist. My artistic streak began as a teen and as a hobby - like many of the artists you'll see here at Cool~Gallery. I hope to add more works and illustrations shortly.

So feel free to browse and enjoy! My e-address is christos10@sympatico.ca.

Best Overall Picture in a locally sponsored Photo Contest from Kodak in `91. I took this shot out in my hubby's uncle's farms in Astorville, Ontario (just outside of North Bay, Ontario....

This was taken about 6 a.m. after a bout of insomnia in the back area of our condo complex a few weeks ago. Having heard there were deer that sometimes venture out in the mornings, I decided to try my luck and see if I could find any, and as you can see for yourself, I struck paydirt!
